FOREST GROVE, Ore. — The Pacific Lutheran University men's track & field squad won a pair of events and logged four more top five finishes on Saturday, placing fourth as a team at the Pacific Open.

"We're really happy with today. We didn't travel a full team but had a lot of strong performances. Carson had a great day in javelin and he's continuing to develop really nicely. Micah had a nice PR in shot put as well. The team keeps improving and that's all you want to see heading towards conference," said Head Coach

Keola Sanchez won the 100-meter dash, topping the 67-athlete field with a winning effort of 11.00 seconds.
Grady Lemma took top billing in the 400-meter hurdles, making one trip around the track in 56.56 and finishing third in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.44.

Carson Olmstead threw a personal best 192 feet, 4 inches, to place second overall in the javelin with teammate
Darius Chaffin placing fourth in the same event with a season best toss of 187' 8".Â

Bridger Hanis cleared a personal best 5' 11 ½" in the high jump to finish fifth overall.
Dylan Jones was seventh in the pole vault (14' 2 ½") while
Micah Ragaza-Bourassa finished in the same position in the shot put with a personal best throw of 44' 0 ½".
Cooper Claxton jumped to a personal record in the triple jump, leaping 42' 2 ¾" to place 10th.Â

Despite sending just a partial squad, the Lutes tied for fourth overall at the 16-team meet. PLU scored 50 points finishing just 2.5 points shy of host Pacific University. Lane Community College won the team title with 95.5 points with Whitworth University runner-up with 69.Â

The Lutes are back in action on Friday, competing at the Doris Heritage Invitational hosted by Seattle Pacific University.Â
