TACOMA, Wash. — Keola Sanchez won the 100-meters and ran a personal best time in the 200-meters as the Pacific Lutheran University men's track & field team hosted the PLU Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Sanchez won the 100-meters in a blazing time of 10.89 seconds on Friday before placing runner-up in the 200-meters in a personal best effort of 22.20. The senior's 200 time was 0.36 seconds faster than his previous best set during the 2021 season.

Grady Lemma continued his stellar season by winning the 110-meter hurdles in 15.36 with teammate
Darius Chaffin third in 17.01.Â

Stefans Lusis shattered a personal best in the 5,000-meters, finishing as the top Division III finisher and second overall in the 12 ½-lap race. Lusis clocked a time of 15:28.04 in the 5K, shaving off a couple of tenths of his previous best and finishing four seconds back of the winner from NAIA Northwest University.Â

In the sprints,
Kellen Meade was fifth in the 200-meters (22.70) while
Davyn Waters was fifth in the 400-meters (53.09).
Carson Olmstead was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.75 while in the mid-distance events,
Kai Sorensen placed fourth in the 800-meters in 1:56.73.

"It was good to compete back at home and continue to build on last week's performances," said Head Coach
Trey Henderson.

"Keola stacked another good performance along with Stefans.
George Sonko had a solid PR in the shot put and is continuing to improve, which is great to see."

Dylan Jones cleared 14' 5 ¼" in the pole vault to secure second place while
Blake Leahy was fourth overall in the same event.Â

In the jumps,
Seth Kramer was second overall and the top D3 athletes in the long jump with a season-best leap of 21' 1 ½" while
Cooper Claxton was third in the triple jump with a mark of 41' 7". Finishing fourth was
Tyger Willingham in the long jump (20' 9") and
Bridger Hanis in the high jump (5' 7 ¾").Â

The throwing events were all contested on a windy and wet Saturday afternoon with
George Sonko finishing third in the discus with a heave of 132' 5" and was third in the shot put as well with a personal best mark of 41' 10". Finishing fourth in the shot was
Griffin Montana (40' 1 ¼") with
Micah Ragaza-Bourassa placing fifth (39' 4").Â

"It will be good to compete at home again next week and to continue to improve."

The Lutes are back at home next Friday for day one of the PLU Open. Throws will be contested on Friday afternoon with jumps and running events contested on Saturday.Â
