PORTLAND, Ore.--- The Pacific Lutheran University men's track and field team travelled to Lewis & Clark over the weekend, sending individuals in hopes of setting national marks. The men's squad total enough points for a seventh-place finish in the Portland Distance and Carnival meet.

Ryan Stracke competed for the Lutes in the 1,500-meter race, finishing in eighth with a final time of three minutes-51.66 seconds. Fellow Cross Country teammate Kai Sorenson ran a time just under the two-minute mark in the 800-meter dash.
Â
Carson Olmstead, also a dual-sport athlete, shined yet again in the Javelin Throw, but did not exceed his personal best as his best throw was recorded at 58.19-meters.
Â
High Jumper Kevin Hanis did eclipse his personal best mark, recording a leap of 1.86-meters to take second in the event. Hanis and the Lutes distance runners will continue to work toward a nationally-qualifying mark as Olmstead already has his sights set on the NCAA meet in less than two weeks.
Â
The Lutes will have one final shot next Thursday to send individuals to compete on the national stage. The men's squad look to compete in the George Fox Bruin's Last Chance Invite in Newberg, Oregon.
