Hanis Honored by Conference Office

HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Northwest Conference office released its weekly award winners on Monday with Pacific Lutheran University men's track & field student-athlete Bridger Hanis securing NWC Field Athlete of the Week honors.

The Puyallup, Washington native is the third straight Lute to be named Field Athlete of the Week this season and is the fifth Lute overall to win Athlete of the Week honors during the outdoor season. Hanis secures the award after winning the high jump on Friday with a season-best clearance of five feet, 11 1/4 inches. That season best clearance came on his second attempt at the height and is a mark that currently is the 23rd best jump in NCAA Division III through the opening three weeks of the outdoor track & field season.

Last week it was PLU thrower Micah Ragaza-Bourassa earning NWC Field Athlete of the Week while jumper Seth Kramer won the league's first Field Athlete of the Week honor back on March 3. The Lutes have also had Ryan Stracke (March 10) and Grady Lemma (March 3) win Track Athlete of the Week honors.

The Lutes hit the road this comoing weekend, competing in California at the Westmont Classic.
