TUMWATER, Wash. --- The Pacific Lutheran University Women's Golf team earned a third place finish at the South Puget Sound Community College Invitational at Tumwater Valley Golf Course over the weekend, led by freshman
Emily Alicea and sophomore
Abby Matelski who both finished inside the top-five for the tournament.

Alicea and Matelski carded nearly identical opening-round 82's on Saturday, with Alicea avoiding big numbers in the final round to shoot an 81 and take solo third-place. Matelski made the lone birdie for the Lutes in the tournament in Sunday's round, making a three on the par-four sixth hole at Tumwater Valley. The sophomore closed out the tournament with yet another 82, finishing just behind Alicea, taking solo fourth-place. The duo were the highest finishers from a Division III school, beating out the team from Puget Sound.

Sophomore Ashey Nguyen began her tournament with an 83, one of her best rounds of the year, followed by an 89 in the final round, securing 10
th-place. Sophomore
Kathleen Pullin shot a pair of 98's for the weekend, as she rounded out the Lutes lineup in 16
th-place.

The Lutes took third place as a team, finishing 15-strokes ahead of cross-town rival UPS for the tournament.

The Lutes final tournament of the season comes one week from Sunday's final round, as the Northwest Conference Championships, hosted by Linfield, with take place in McMinnville, Ore. at Michelbook Country Club next Sunday and Monday.
