MCMINNVILLE, Ore. — Kai Sorensen won the 800-meters for the second straight week, shaving a tenth of a second off his personal best to highlight the Pacific Lutheran University men's track & field team's efforts at the Linfield Open on Saturday.
The Lutes took just five student-athletes to the meet with all five logging personal bests.

Sorensen showed no signs of slowing down after winning the Northwest Conference Championship in the 800-meters six days ago. The junior secured a personal best time in the two lap race, finishing in one minute, 52.62— shaving off 0.15 seconds off his previous best to win the event that featured a field of 25 runners.
Noah Friedrich earned the win in the 5,000-meters, breaking the 16-minute barrier for the first time ever on the oval after finishing in 15:56.30 with
Daniel Zimmer fourth overall in a PR effort of 16:12.86.

Corban Piper was 11th in the 1,500-meters in a personal best 4:27.75 while
Jonathan Ochoa was eighth in the javelin with a personal record toss of 116 feet, 10 inches.
PLU returns to Oregon next weekend, racing at both the Portland Distance Carnival and the Oregon Twilight Meet.Â
