PORTLAND, Ore. — The Pacific Lutheran University track & field teams had one final tune-up before the 2026 Northwest Conference Championships on Saturday, competing at Lewis & Clark College's Larry Byerly Invitational.

"I thought it was a solid final meet before conference. We wanted to have a good day of competition going into the championship week and I thought we did," said Head Coach Trey Henderson.

"The team competed well up to this point and next week is about pushing on for conference and giving our all to have a weekend to be proud of."

Ki Neir headlined the day, clearing a personal best 11 feet, nine inches in the pole vault to place second overall, a mark that ranks 37th in NCAA Division III this spring. 
 
Kira Marshall came up big in the triple jump, winning the event with a leap of 36' 3" with Madison Downey seventh with a jump of 35' 0 ¼".
 
In the sprints, D'Yhana Clemons ran a time of 12.88 seconds in the 100-meters with Kira Marshall one hundredth of a second back in 12.89 while Lexie McGurk was a fraction of a second back in 12.90. 
 
Lilly Achterling ran a 16.43 in the 100-meter hurdles with Addisen Hering clocking a 16.51. In the 400-meters, Heather Johnson was fourth overall in 59.63 while also placing fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.01. Hering was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.73 with Acherling eighth (1:08.89). 
 
Jessalyn Robles had a season-best in the 800-meters (2:26.97) with Maddie Mitchell netting a personal best in the 1,500-meters in 5:01.93. 
 
In the throws, Samayia White was fifth in the hammer throw (141' 9") with Sandra Valmonte eighth overall with a mark of 137' 3". Tajanai Huff was 12th in the discus (113' 11") while White finished ninth in the shot put (37' 8 ½"). 
 
Sydney Sparks cleared 4' 9 ¾" to net eighth in the high jump. 

On the men's side, Kaden Watts clocked an 11.42 in the 100-meters while Corban Piper ran a 2:02.25 in the 800-meters. 
 
In the distance events, Noah Friedrich ran a 15:48.29 in the 5,000-meters with Justin Garrett clocking a 16:49.91. 
 
In the throws, George Sonko uncorked a throw of 138' 11" in the discus and had a season-best fling of 45' 0 ½" in the shot put. 
 
Hunter Kleindl and Garrett Armbruster cleared 13' 5" in the pole vault, tying for 14th overall. 

The Lutes are back in action next Saturday at the 2026 NWC Championships in Spokane, Washington.
