HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference office released its first Swimmer of the Week Award on Monday with Pacific Lutheran University women's swimming student-athlete
Jessica Ordaz claiming the honor.

Ordaz wins the weekly award after winning the individual title at the NWC Sprint Pentathlon in Forest Grove, Oregon on Friday, helping the Lutes win the team title.Â

The Los Angeles native won two of the five events contested while finishing runner-up in two more. Ordaz turned in the top times in both the 50-yard butterfly (26.68 seconds) and the 50-yard freestyle (24.85) and runner-up showings in the 100-yard individual medley (1:00.39) and the 50-yard breaststroke (32.05). The sophomore was additionally fourth in the 50-yard backstroke (29.58).

Ordaz scored 89 of the Lutes' 315.5 points to win the meet title, enjoying a 23.5-point advantage on runner-up Whitworth University.

This is the second career NWC Swimmer of the Week Award for Ordaz who also secured the award on March 9, 2021 after closing her first season with the Lutes a perfect 19-0.Â

Ordaz and the Lutes (1-0) open the NWC dual meet season on Friday, hosting Whitworth at 6 p.m.
