TACOMA, Wash. — The Pacific Lutheran University women's swimming program won seven of the 11 events contested on Saturday afternoon, overwhelming Northwest Conference rival Lewis & Clark College 110-85 in a dual meet at the PLU Pool.
The Lutes (2-2, 2-2 NWC) set the tone early, winning the opening three events of the meet.
Maya Lovre,
Makenzie Chan-Orcutt,
Annika Eisele, and
Jersey Razzano won the 200-yard medley relay in one minute, 58.0 seconds, with the PLU B team placing second overall.
Sidney Chan-Orcutt won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 12:20.2 with Eisele runner-up in 12:37.47.
Malia Wisham claimed the victory in the third event of the day, breezing to first in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.82.
Claire Cranch won the 400-yard individual medley, touching the wall in 5:03.36 while Eisele secured her second win of the meet in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking a time of 1:02.74 with Lovre taking second billing in 1:06.47.
Wisham won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:18.65 while
Makenzie Chan-Orcutt claimed the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke, edging out Wisham for the win. Chan-Orcutt touched the wall in 1:10.90 with Wisham a split second behind in 1:11.24.
"It was a tough series of meets this weekend against some quality opponents in Linfield and Lewis & Clark," said Head Coach
Andrew Lum.
"The Lutes battled through some tough obstacles but nevertheless showed up when it mattered most. We're proud of the way they attacked each race and continued to find ways to give their best on that day while enjoying the process."
Turning in runner-up finishes was
Sidney Chan-Orcutt in the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.62),
Allie Burke in the 500-yard freestyle (6:01.63) and the 200-yard freestyle relay team.
The Lutes take next weekend off and return to the water on Dec. 2 for day one of the three-day Logger Invitational at the University of Puget Sound.
