TACOMA, Wash. — Malia Wisham won the 200-yard freestyle, one of 15 top five finishes for the Pacific Lutheran University men's and women's swimming team over the weekend at the Logger Invitational hosted by the University of Puget Sound.
Wisham won the 200 free by a comfortable two-second margin, touching the wall in one minute, 53.99 seconds while teammate
Sidney Chan-Orcutt was eighth in 2:00.64. Wisham, the NWC Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 21, additionally placed runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle (5:12.55) and was third in the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.20). The Duvall, Washington native teamed up with
Makenzie Chan-Orcutt,
Sidney Chan-Orcutt, and
Annika Eisele to secure third in the 200-yard medley relay (1:51.62), fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:41.02), fifth in the 400-yard medley relay (4:10.54), and sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:47.02).
Eisele was third in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.30 while also registering a fourth place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (59.22).
Maya Lovre was third in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 2:12.96 while
Claire Cranch was fourth in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:51.88.
Makenzie Chan-Orcutt was fourth in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.31) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:31.33) while sister Sidney was fifth in the 100-yard freestyle in 54.74.
On the men's side
Tyler Tanaka headlined the day for the Lutes. The first-year was runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:09.87 and third in the 400-yard individual medley (4:16.13).
Devin Stanley placed eighth in the 100-yard freestyle, stopping the clock in 48.37 while also earning a 10th place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.01) and an 11th place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (21.91).
Na'inoa Loo was 11th in both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.54) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.20).
The Logger Invitational was a three-day meet with the Lutes participating in just the final two days of the meet, swimming on Saturday and Sunday.
The Lutes are back in action on Jan. 7 with a dual meet against Division I Seattle University.
