PORTLAND – In the final meet before the Northwest Conference Championships,
Masum Real won a pair the shot put and the discus at Lewis & Clark College to lead the Pacific Lutheran University men's track and field team.
Real tossed the shot put 49' ¾" to beat the field by over 15 feet and spun the discus 150' 9" to edge out teammate Larson Fairbiarn who placed second (149' 9"). Fairbairn added a second place in the hammer throw (145' 7").
Senior
Corey Solomon added a silver in the pole vault after tying with the winner at 15' 1", but finished second on misses.
Davyn Waters also placed fourth in the triple jump (37' 3 ¼")
Kellen Meade was the top Division III competitor and finished third overall in the 100-meter dash. Meade also anchored the third-place 4x100-meter relay (43.90) and teamed with
Aiden Yost,
Jai Alapai and
Alec Serrao. Yost, Aiden Donnelly,
Andrew Sandoval and
Logan Werner also placed fourth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:38.27).
The Lutes will head across town next Friday to compete in the annual NWC Championships on the campus of archrival University of Puget Sound. The first event begins at 2:00 p.m. and continues on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
