NORTH PLAINS, Ore. – The Pacific Lutheran University men's golf team is playing its best golf of the season as it heads into the most important stretch of the year. After winning the Washington Cup title in their last appearance, the Lutes claimed victory on Tuesday at the Pacific Invite with
Joshua Clogston earning medalist honors.
Clogston, a freshman from Mukilteo, Wash., topped the 72-player field with a two-day total of 146. Clogston fired a two-under par 69 today, which was the best round of the entire tournament, for a 36-hole total of 146. Senior
Ryan Pearson led the field with a 72 yesterday and tied for second overall, just one stroke behind Clogston.
Gunner Nielsen tied for fifth with a 149 and
Caden Arnold lowered his score by six strokes on Tuesday for a 75 and a two-round total of 156.
As a team, the Lutes finished with a 598, six strokes in front of The University of British Columbia. Northwest Conference rival George Fox University came in third at 612, with North Idaho College finishing fourth at 615. Hardin-Simmons University closed the top five with a 629.
The Lutes will be back in action this weekend at the NWC Spring Classic. The opening round tees off on Saturday at Oakbrook Golf Club in Lakewood.
