MOLALLA, Ore. — Koen Solis finished tied for first at the George Fox Invitational leading Pacific Lutheran University to a second-place team finish Tuesday afternoon.
FINAL RESULTS
PLU opened the tournament in seventh place after posting a 307 (+23) in the first round. The Lutes bounced back in round two, improving their team score by 21 strokes. PLU finished tied with Whitworth University in the final standings, five strokes behind tournament champion Linfield University.
Solis secured first place after a thrilling playoff with Whitworth's Matthew Durkin in which they tied three times before Durkin birdied earning the low medalist honor. Solis carding rounds of 73-68—141 (-1) and recording a team-high five birdies. Marcus Otto followed closely, matching his opening-round 75 to finish at 150 (+8).
Soren Bostrom also delivered a strong performance, finishing tied for 19th after shooting even par in the second round and improving by nine strokes from day one. Grant Raubenolt posted the biggest improvement for the Lutes, shaving 10 strokes off his first-round score to finish tied for 29th with a 154 (+8), including five birdies in round two.
Tanner Frinnell led PLU's individual competitors, placing fourth overall with rounds of 73-73—146 (+4).
Pacific Lutheran returns to action Saturday, April 4, at the NWC Spring Classic.
