Ordaz Tabbed Scholar All-American

Official CSCAA Release

TACOMA, Wash. — Pacific Lutheran University women's swimming student-athlete Jessica Ordaz was recognized for her outstanding efforts in the pool and in the classroom, securing Scholar All-American honors from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

Ordaz is among the 1,206 swimmers and divers from across all divisions of collegiate swimming to be recognized with the award. The award recognizes student-athletes who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher during the 2021-2022 academic year and were invited to compete at their respective national championship meet.

The Los Angeles, California native was the Northwest Conference Swimmer of the Year and the NWC Freshman of the Year this winter, winning seven conference titles and setting five school records. Ordaz helped the Lutes win their seventh straight NWC dual meet title and became just the second Lute women's swimmer to compete at the NCAA Division III Championships.

This isn't the first award for the Lutes this summer that salutes their academic aptitude with the women's swimming team capturing the crown of 'Academic National Champions" after owning the nation's best team grade point average. PLU boasted a 3.85 GPA, edging out Fairmont State University (3.84) and Stanford University (3.83).
