TACOMA, Wash. — The Pacific Lutheran University men's swimming squad earned a clean sweep of every event in the pool on Friday night, overpowering Northwest Conference rival Pacific University 71-18.

"The Lutes had a very difficult task tonight swimming some tough races such as the 1650 free. Stack on top of that some of the most intense training we've done this season but they showed up big time. So much so that we had some people hit some lifetime bests, and beat their times from our mid-season Meet. Big shout outs to first-year
Jay Hong for hitting 100% lifetime best," said Head Coach
Andrew Lum. Â
Na'inoa Loo and
Ben Thompson set the tone as members of the winning mixed 200-yard medley relay team to open the meet, registering a time of one minute, 51.41 seconds.
Â
Tyler Tanaka secured the top spot in the 1,650-yard freestyle, stopping the clock in 18:46.56 while
Jay Hong captured the win in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.59.Â
Â
Charlie Cutter was the winner in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 56.06 with Thompson logging his second win of the night in the 100-yard freestyle (52.64).
Â
Luke Farag owned a comfortable four-second win in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:00.85 while
Devin Stanley topped the field in the 500-yard freestyle (5:16.41). Hong won his second event of the night in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking a time of 1:09.87 while Farag and Cutter closed out the meet with a win as a part of the mixed 200-yard freestyle relay (1:45.27).
