Day 1 Results
BOISE, Idaho -- A big performance from
Tyler Tanaka in the 200-yard individual medley and a strong showing in the final relay of the night powered the Pacific Lutheran University men's swimming team into fifth place in the team standings after day one of the 2026 Northwest Conference Championships at the Idaho Central Aquatic Center.
Tyler Tanaka set the tone with a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, touching the wall in one minute, 57.35 seconds in the A finals. That effort came after logging a time of 1:56.72 in the preliminary heats during the morning session.
Vyron Domingo was 11th in the same event, finishing third in the B finals in 1:56.74 while
Christian Georgi was 14th (1:58.99) and Gus Hertz was 16th (2:01.29).
Matthew Jones placed fourth in the B final and 12th overall in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:49.90 while
Sebastian Arellano (21.73) and
Anthony James (21.77) placed 15th and 16th respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle.
The Lutes finished sixth overall in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:26.12) to open the evening session and closed the night with a fourth place showing in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:29.00).
Pacific Lutheran ended day one with 86.5 points and sit fifth overall in the team standings, holding an 8.5-point buffer on sixth place Willamette University. The Lutes lurk 16.5 points back of fourth place Whitman College. Whitworth University is the early leader with 269 points with University of Puget Sound second at the nine team meet with 154 points.
The Lutes are back in the pool tomorrow morning with session three underway at 9:30 a.m. (Mountain Time).
