BOISE, Idaho -- The Pacific Lutheran University men's swimming team turned in its best performance since 2022 at the Northwest Conference Championships, placing fifth overall in the team standings at the 2026 edition of the meet held at the Idaho Central Aquatic Center.
The Lutes ended the three-day championships with 287.5 points, sitting 5.5 points ahead of sixth place Lewis & Clark College. Whitworth University won the team title at the nine-team meet, accumulating 875 points with University of Puget Sound runner-up with 509.5 points. Linfield University (394.5 points) and Whitman College (392.5 points) rounded out the top four.
Vyron Domingo placed sixth in the 200-yard backstroke on Sunday, touching the wall in one minute, 55.79 seconds with
Hoskoo Amgalan 16th in the same event with a time of 2:04.31.
Three Lutes tallied top 16 finishes in the 200-yard breaststroke with
Tyler Tanaka leading the charge. Tanaka was fifth with a time of 2:05.83 while
Christian Georgi was eighth (2:09.58), and Gus Hertz 15th (2:19.14).
Anthony James was 11th in the 100-yard freestyle in 47.54 while
Dylan Dang placed 14th in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.42).
PLU closed the meet by placing sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay, stopping the clock in 3:11.98.
The Lutes collected two top eight individual finishes on Saturday, including
Tyler Tanaka placing sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.04) while
Vyron Domingo was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (52.13). Tanaka also logged a sixth place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (1:57.35) to open the meet on Friday.
