TACOMA, WASH.— The Pacific Lutheran University men's swimming program fell to the Loggers of University of Puget Sound 161-90 on Saturday afternoon. Four Lutes:
Ben Coats,
Dylan Dang,
Tyler Tanaka and
Emiliano Zuniga were honored for their time and commitment to the swim program.
The energy was evident in the pool today, on senior day, with every Lute wanting to leave everything out there to honor their seniors in their last dual meet of the of the year.
"Today is all about our seniors and honoring their legacy here at PLU," Head Coach
Andrew Lum noted. " No better way to do it than a cross-town rivalry with UPS. They're a very strong program, and are always ready to race us at end of the dual meet season."
PLU's top relay started the meet out strong taking 2nd in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of one minute, 41.79 seconds.
Vyron Domingo continued the momentum earning a second place finish in the 100 yard IM with a time of 55.30. Matthew Jones would put on a strong showing in the 100 yard breaststroke finishing first with a time of 1:01.03.
Anthony James also showed out in the 100 yard freestyle earning a win with a final time of 49.59. Domingo wasn't through for the Lutes as he dominated the 200 yard backstroke winning by more than three seconds with a time of 2:00.17.
Tyler Tanaka continued the positive momentum placing second in the 500 yard freestyle with a 5:04.96.
August Hertz would win the final individual event for the Lutes in the 100 yard butterfly finishing with a 54.50. PLU would end the meet taking second in the 200 yard freestyle relay which comprised of Hertz,
Aidan Koshinsky,
Hoskoo Amgalan, and James.
The Lutes will be back in action in two weeks time as they compete at the Northwest Conference Championships in Boise, Idaho.
