Men's Track & Field Take Second Billing in Coaches' Poll

HILLSBORO, Ore. — The 2023 Northwest Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll was released this month with the Pacific Lutheran University  men's track and field team sitting second in the rankings.

The Lutes received 54 points securing their spot at second in the rankings. They are sitting behind George Fox University, with 10 points more than the Lutes and eight of the nine first place votes, ranked at first, and stand two points higher than Whitworth University who obtained the remaining vote for first place.

Pacific University is ranked fourth with 34 points. Lewis & Clark College took fifth place in the ranking with 27 points and Willamette University ranked seventh with 25 points.

The final two rankings in the Northwest Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll is occupied by PLU's crosstown nemesis University of Puget Sound standing at eighth with 20 points, followed by Whitman College at ninth place with eight points.

Last spring, the Lutes finished second at the 2022 NWC Championships. The Lutes began the indoor season in January and will open the outdoor track & field slate on March 3 at the Ed Boitano Invitational. The 2023 NWC Championships will be held on April 21-22 in Salem, Oregon.
