SOAP LAKE, Wash. --- The Pacific Lutheran University Men's Golf team took on three Northwest Conference foes in Eastern Washington over the weekend at Lakeview Golf & Country Club, finishing second with every score in the 70's.

PLU traveled with six players for the tournament in a head-to-head-to-head matchup with Puget Sound and Whitman.

Junior
Koen Solis led the Lutes over the weekend, as he has for each tournament to begin the season. Solis trailed by one shot after the first round, where he shot a two-under 70 that features six birdies. Solis played the par fives two-under and the par fours one-under. The junior finished in fourth place in the small event, as he and
Tanner Frinell were two of five players to shoot under-par for the two rounds.

Sophomore
Tanner Frinell opened the tournament on Saturday with a one-over 73, but rebounded with a two-under 70. Frinell made four birdies and one double-bogey in Sunday's round, as he carded the lowest final round for PLU. Fellow sophomore
Luke Butler finished just two strokes behind Frinell in the tournament, as Butler carded his lowest collegiate round on Saturday; a two-under 70. The sophomore first a two-over 74 on Sunday, making 14 pars, on his way to finishing tied for eighth.

Helsingborg, Sweden native
Marcus Otto shot an even-par 72 in the opening round, before a one-over 73 rounded out his tournament tied with Butler for 8
th. Otto carded 13 pars in the final round, and made an eagle on hole 11 of the first round.

The final two Lutes were not far behind, as freshmen
Geo Pirrie and
Soren Bostrom tied for 11
th after the two rounds. Pirrie fired a 76 in the first round, while Bostrom shot a 77. Both Lutes recorded their first under-par rounds on Sunday though, with Pirrie shooting a 71 and Bostrom a 70. Bostrom's six birdies propelled him to tying with Frinell for the lowest round on Sunday. For Pirrie, an eagle on hole 11 helped negate earlier bogeys to go with his five birdies in route to a one-under 71.

As aa team, the Lutes finished at 569 (seven-under par) for the tournament, trailing only Whitman who shot 561.

The Lutes first Northwest Conference tournament comes next weekend in Oregon, where they will compete in the Fall Classic on Sunday and Monday at the OGA Golf Course.
