SPOKANE, Wash.--- The Pacific Lutheran University Men's and Women's Track and Field teams saw their first action of the indoor portion of the 2024-25 season on Saturday. From sprinters to jumpers, a handful of first-year Lutes made their collegiate debut at the Spokane Invitational.

Sophomore
Tyger Willingham got the season started on the men's side for the Lutes in the 60-meter race, running a personal-best of 7.18-seconds. Senior
Allie Youngs kicked off the season for the women's team, running a time of 8.77-seconds in the 60-meter sprint.

Senior
Grady Lemma's 2024-25 campaign got off on the right foot, as he set a new personal-best time of 8.32-seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. Lemma later led the Lutes in his second and final event of the day, the 200-meter hurdles, running a time of 23.11-seconds. In the same event, sophomore Abigail Caprye led the women's squad with a 10.12-second run, before she took a team-best fifth-place in the High Jump with a leap of 1.61-meters.

Sophomore Kevin Hanis also had a strong finish in the High Jump, taking eighth with a jump of 1.80-meters. Willlingham returned to action in the men's Long Jump, taking 11
th with a best jump of 6.28-meters; closely followed by
Seth Kramer who took 15
th at 6.16-meters.

Jumper
Kyleigh Archer jumped across the state to Spokane, and had a leap of 4.85-meters in the Long Jump, before leading the Lutes also in the Triple Jump at 10.67-meters, good for ninth-place. Sophomore
Madison Downey also had a strong showing in the Triple Jump, taking 10
th with a best of 10.46-meters.

Senior
Blake Leahy was one of five total Lutes to compete in the Pole Vault, as he and
Aidan Donnelly both cleared the 3.98-meter mark; a personal-best for Donnelly.

Making their first appearance in the black and gold was Addisen Herring,
Sydney Sparks, and Kiana Neir. Neir led the Lutes in her first collegiate Pole Vault effort, eclipsing the 3.01-meter mark, good for eighth-place.

"It was great to get an early start to indoor season. Although a small group it's always good to get athletes into a competitive environment and some early experience for a few of our first years." Said Head Coach
Trey Henderson following the season opener.

"Grady had a great start to his season with a personal-best in the hurdles and I'm excited to see him build on that. Tyger had really solid day all around along with Abigail starting her season off in High Jump with a really strong result. Now onto winter break and get recharged before we hit the ground running in January!"

The Lutes indoor season will continue into 2025, as individuals will look to compete in the UW Preview on January 17
th and 18
th up north in Seattle, Washington.
