SPOKANE, Wash. — Grady Lemma and
Keola Sanchez both recorded top 10 finishes on Saturday as the Pacific Lutheran University men's track & field team competed as a full squad for the first time this season at the Whitworth Indoor Invitational held at The Podium.
"It was a good trip all around. Not just the competition itself but getting the team together for our first trip is always a positive," said Head Coach
Trey Henderson.
"There were strong performances. Grady and Keola really had standout days and both are showing the results of consistent hard work. Connor Meade was also really impressive in his debut."
Keola Sanchez finished fourth in the 60-meter dash, clocking a personal best time of 6.86 seconds which currently ranks as the 19th best time in NCAA Division III this season. Teammate
Kellen Meade was 25thoverall, crossing the tape in 7.22.
Grady Lemma was third in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a personal best effort of 8.42 before finishing 20thin the 200-meter dash in 22.57.
In the distance events,
Kai Sorensen was 20th in the mile, looping the oval in 4:33.12 while
Stefans Lusis finished the 3,000-meters in 8:57.24.
In the jumps, Connor Meade was 11th in the triple jump with a leap of 41 feet, 11 ½ inches, and 15th in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 7 1/4 inches.
Cooper Claxton was 16th in the triple jump (39' 5 ¼") while
Seth Kramer was 16th in the long jump (19' 10 ¾").
George Sonko was 19th in the shot put (40' 11 ½") while
Garrett Armbruster led the Lute pole vault crew, clearing 12' 10 ¼" to finish 20th overall.
"Excited for this team to get back to work as we prepare for outdoor season."
The Lutes are back in action on Feb. 23, competing at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invite hosted by the University of Washington.
