Day 1 Recap

NEWBERG, Ore. — Madison Downey won the triple jump in her conference meet debut, headlining the Pacific Lutheran University women's track & field team's efforts on day two of the 2024 Northwest Conference Championships at George Fox University.

"As a staff we are really proud of our team. We started well and finished the meet the way we wanted too. Maddie being a conference champion was awesome. Regardless of the result, each athlete gave it their all and represented PLU the right way and that's all you can ask for. Control what you can control and I thought we did that," said Head Coach Trey Henderson.

The Lutes finished the two-day meet at GFU's Stoffer Family Stadium with two individual conference champions and placed seventh as a team with 65 points. Pacific Lutheran was just three points shy of crosstown rival University of Puget Sound for sixth place and was three-point ahead of eighth place Willamette University. The host Bruins won the title with 202.5 points with Whitworth University runner-up with 172 points.
