MCMINNVILLE, Ore. — Devin Stanley won a pair of events on Saturday as the Pacific Lutheran University men's swimming team came up short 114-75 against Linfield University in the first Northwest Conference dual meet of the calendar year.

"It's a New Year but the same Lutes!" said Head Coach
Andrew Lum.
"Today was a great opportunity for us to shake the rust off and get back into the swing of things with conference competition. The Wildcats provided some very high quality racing and intense energy."

The senior's first victory came in the 50-yard freestyle, outdueling the field after touching the wall in 22.55 seconds. Teammate
Anthony James was third overall in 23.28. Stanley capped off the meet by working with James,
Dakota Domingo, and
Dylan Dang to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:20.92, enjoying a three second gap on host Linfield.Â

Stanley additionally helped PLU's 400-yard medley team to a second place finish, teaming up with Tanaka, Dang, and Domingo to clock a time of 3:40.83, finishing just seven hundredths of a second behind the host Wildcats.Â

Christian Georgi logged a runner-up showing in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing in 11:08.48 while also placing runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:06.78. Ian Rho took second billing in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:03.14 while
Elijah Vickery was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 53.53.Â

Aidan Koshinsky was second in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing the long distance swim in 5:36.16 while Tanaka was runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:13.74.Â

Logging third place finishes included
Aidan Koshinsky in the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.31), Domingo in the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.55), and Dang in the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.07).

"We're in our peak training block right now, and the Lutes showed great promise as we march towards the conference championships in February."Â

Saturday's meet was PLU's first intercollegiate competition since finishing runner-up at the Bruin Invitational back on Nov. 24.Â

The Lutes are back in the pool next Saturday, hosting George Fox University. Events inside the PLU Pool are set to begin at 1 p.m.
