WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Koen Solis finished third overall in the team standings, one of four Lutes to dot the top 25, as the Pacific Lutheran University men's golf team closed out the fall season with a fourth place showing at the Confluence Classic.
Solis finished the tournament four strokes shy of first place, carding a two round tally of 144 to finish in a four-way tie for third place. Solis shot a three-under 69 during round one on Sunday at Veterans Memorial Golf Course, a round that included four birdies and 10 pars. Round two at Wine Valley Golf Course saw Solis shoot a 75, finishing with 14 pars and one birdie.
Tanner Frinell was 11th overall with a 147. Frinell shot a 76 to open the tournament before shooting a one-under 71 on Monday, a round that included three birdies and 13 pars.
Luke Butler and
Soren Bostrom tied for 19th, both shooting a 150. Butler shot a 78 on Sunday and a 72 on Monday while Bostrom carded rounds of 77 and 73.
Geo Pirrie led the PLU B Team, placing 25th with a 152 (78-74) while
Marcus Otto finished just inside the top 30, placing 29th with a 154 (80-74).
Whitman's Grady Brown earned medalist honors, shooting a 140 (67-73) and helping the host Blues win the team title with a score of 569 (281-288). Pacific Lutheran placed fourth overall, finishing one stroke behind George Fox University. The Lutes carded a 590, shooting a 300 on Sunday and shaving off 10 strokes on Monday with a 290. PLU's B Team finished ninth overall, shooting a 640 (327-313), edging George Fox's B Team by one stroke.
This was the Lutes final tournament of the fall season.
