NEWBERG, Ore. — The Pacific Lutheran University men's swimming team won eight events on Saturday, opening up the 2025-2026 regular season with a 166-75 dual meet victory over Northwest Conference rival George Fox University.

Saturday's meet was a triangular meet with both the Lutes and University of Puget Sound competing head-to-head with host George Fox. The meet had an added twist with events five through 25 was a mystery to the student-athletes of what event they were swimming until they stepped onto the blocks.Â

"Today was all about getting outside of their comfort zone. With the mystery of not knowing what they were going to compete in, regardless of primary or non-primary events, it all came down to the purest form of racing," said Head Coach
Andrew Lum.
"This was a great opportunity for the Lutes to see that they're more versatile and competitive than their 'normal' lineups."

Pacific Lutheran opened the meet strong with
Vyron Domingo, Matthew Jones,
Dylan Dang, and
Anthony James winning the 200-yard medley relay by a comfortable four-second margin. Clocking a time of one minute, 37.07 seconds.Â

Domingo continued to dominate later in the meet, winning both the 50-yard backstroke (24.48) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.54).Â

Jones bagged a pair of individual wins, topping the field in both the 100-yard freestyle (49.95) and th3 200-yard freestyle (1:50.53).Â

Dang added two more wins, claiming the title in both the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.58) and the 50-yard butterfly (24.09). Teammate
Emiliano Zuniga made it a 1-2 finish in the fly, touching the wall n 25.26.Â

Hoskoo Amgalan took the win in the 50-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 28.63 while placing second in the 100-yard butterfly in 57.21.Â

Tyler Tanaka was runner-up in both the 100-yard backstroke (57.72) and the 50-yard freestyle (22.72) while the Lutes' 200-yard freestyle relay was second to close the meet, stopping the clock in 1:31.38.Â

The Lutes dip back into the pool next Saturday, hosting Lewis & Clark College at 11 a.m.
