Official NWC Release
HILLSBORO, Ore. — A dominant weekend in the pool has earned Pacific Lutheran University men's swimming student-athlete
Vyron Domingo recognition from the league office, securing Northwest Conference Swimmer of the Week honors on Monday afternoon.
The Mill Creek, Washington native scored 185 of PLU's 787.5 points over the weekend, powering the Lutes to a runner-up team finish at the Bruin Invitational.Â
Domingo's efforts will be etched into the record books after the first year shattered a school record in the 200-yard backstroke, posting a winning time of 1:52.37. That swim breaks Cody Hartman's longstanding record of 1:52.58 that has stood since 2015. Domingo's 200 Back time is currently the fastest in the NWC this season.
Domingo also logged runner-up finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (52.77) and as a member of both the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:27.38) and the 400-yard medley relay (3:31.67) while placing third in the 200-yard individual medley (2:00.44), the 200-yard medley relay (1:35.51), and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:15.64).Â
Domingo and the Lutes take the rest of the semester off and will return to the pool on Jan. 9, competing across town against the University of Puget Sound and Southwestern Oregon Community College.Â
