SPOKANE, Wash.— The Pacific Lutheran University track & field team opened up the season with seven personal records on Saturday morning.
PLU competed at The Podium complex in Spokane with 18 collegiate teams and one track club. Of those 18 teams, the Lutes were one of three division III schools including University of Puget Sound and Whitworth.

Trey Henderson mentioned. "Some good PR's to kick off indoor season. We've had a really good fall of training so getting an early competition in is always a positive. The entire team is itching to compete and it will be great to get back to work after the holiday break. There's a lot of work ahead of us to continue to get better and better and I'm excited to see that process continue in January as we really build into the season! "
Seth Kramer started things off competing in the 60m dash finishing with a 7.31 a new PR.
Abi Caprye would continue the momentum in the 60m hurdles finishing 13th with a 9.46 (PR). Caprye would also have strong showings in the high jump and pole vault events finishing with a new PR of 3.15m in pole vault.
Bridger Hanis added to the PR party finishing 6th in the high jump with a leap of 1.90m (PR).
A trio of freshman would make their collegiate debut in pole vault:
Peter Essex,
Kaiden Schlag, and
Archie Magno all finishing 11th (3.90m PR), 15th (3.60m), and 17th (3.30m) respectively. Kiana Neir led the way for the women's pole vault squad finishing 2nd with a jump of 3.30m.
Madison Downey would also post a 3.30m leap a new PR.
Kyleigh Archer rounded things out for the Lutes finishing top in long jump and triple jumps with leaps of 4.88m and 11.22m.
The Lutes will return to action after the holiday break as they travel to the University of Washington for the UW Preview on Jan. 16-17.
