FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Riley Maher logged a top three podium finish on Friday evening as the Pacific Lutheran University men's and women's swimming teams both sit sixth overall in the team standings after day two of the 2025 Northwest Conference Championships at the King County Aquatic Center.
"On this Valentine's Day, there;s a whole lot of love for the Lutes!" said Head Coach
Andrew Lum.
"Their energy, engagement, and undying support for each other shown through from the beginning to the end of both prelims and finals."
Maher earned All-Conference honors in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing third overall in the event with a personal best time. The sophomore logged a time of 2:10.59 in the morning preliminary heats before shaving off over a second in the finals, snagging 16 points for the Lutes with a bronze effort in two minutes, 9.45 seconds. It was a three spot improvement from a season ago when she tallied a sixth place showing in the same event.
Lola Chargualaf,
Scout Hawkins, Maher, and
Emma Gassman closed out the meet strong, winning their heat and placing fourth overall in the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 4:01.31.
For the men,
Devin Stanley was eighth overall in the 50-yard freestyle, sprinting to the finish in 21.59 while
Dakota Domingo was runner-up in the B final and 10th overall in 21.41. Collectively the duo scored 18 points for the Lutes in the team standings.
Tyler Tanaka won the B final of the 200-yard individual medley, clocking a time of 1:56.36 that was faster than two finishers in the A final. Teammate
Ian Rho was 15th overall in the same event, touching the wall in 2:01.80.
The PLU men's 400-yard medley relay team matched the women's team finish, placing fourth after Stanley, Tanaka,
Dylan Dang, and Domingo posted a time of 3:27.51.
"It was apparent when a Lute was in the pool, or behind the blocks. The atmosphere was contagious and it caught fire real quick today."

The Championships resume tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. with finals on day three of four slated to begin at 5 p.m.
