TACOMA, Wash. — The Pacific Lutheran University men's and women's swimming programs were recognized for its success in the water and in the classroom on Tuesday with six student-athletes earning College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors.
Emma Gassman and
Anna Haneda from the women's team were recognized as Academic All-District while
Luke Farag,
Na'inoa Loo,
Tyler Tanaka, and
Ben Thompson from the men's squad were recognized.
A nursing major,
Emma Gassman secures Academic All-District after finishing runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke and placing fourth in the 200-yard butterfly at the 2025 Northwest Conference Championships back in February at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington.
An economics major,
Anna Haneda earns the honor after competing in seven meets for the Lutes, Haneda competed in both the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle at the NWC Championships and won the 200-yard freestyle in the team's dual meet with Pacific University back on Nov. 16.Â
A kinesiology major,
Luke Farag lands the academic award after competing at the NWC Championships in both the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard backstroke. Farag finished 11th overall in the 200 back and was 12th overall in the 100 back.

A business major,
Na'inoa Loo snags Academic All-District after recording a 12th place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke and a 13th place showing in the 100-yard breaststroke at the NWC Championships.Â

A nursing major,
Tyler Tanaka is tabbed Academic All-District after placing runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke, eighth in the 400-yard individual medley, and ninth in the 200-yard individual medley at the conference meet.Â

A chemistry major,
Ben Thompson earns the CSC award after competing in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle at the 2025 NWC Championships. Thompson raced in eight meets for the Lutes, finishing runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle in the dual win over Pacific University.Â

The Lutes wrapped up the 2024-2025 season with both the men and women finishing sixth at the NWC Championships. The PLU women finished the dual meet season with a 4-4 record while the men were 3-5 in conference dual meets.Â
