TUMWATER, Wash. --- The Pacific Lutheran University Men's Golf team travelled to Thurston County this weekend, competing in the South Puget Sound Community College Invitational at Tumwater Valley Golf Course.
Koen Solis and
Marcus Otto found themselves in contention throughout both rounds, but each carded top-five finishes.

Solis recorded a clean one-under 71 in the opening round on Saturday, as his four birdies and three bogeys set him up just three strokes behind the leader after round one. The junior wasn't able to sink a birdie in the final round, as just three bogeys led to his 75 to earn a solo third-place finish.

Marcus Otto began the tournament with a two-over 74, rebounding from a tough stretch on holes 15-17. He matched his opening round number on Sunday, once again carding a 74 in route to a tied-fifth finish at 148.

Luke Butler avoided the big numbers all weekend, as his two birdies helped him to an opening-round 77, before a one-birdie 78 to cap off his best tournament of the year, finishing tied for 16
th. Freshman
Soren Bostrom's first round 78 was behind him as he recovered with a three-over 75 in the final round, managing a pair of double bogeys to finish tied for 13
th.

Geo Pirrie rounded out the starting lineup for the Lutes, shooting 78 in both rounds, tying for 20
th-place. Competing as an individual, sophomore
Aiden Aoki fired his best round of the year on Saturday, carding a pair of birdies on his way to a 77. Aoki closed out the tournament with an 83 on Sunday to tie for 26
th-place.

The Lutes finished third as a team, ahead of NWC rival Puget Sound, but seven shots behind Whitworth who took second.

The Lutes cap off the season next weekend, with the Northwest Conference Championships, hosted by Linfield, with take place in McMinnville, Ore. at Michelbook Country Club next Sunday and Monday.
