TACOMA, Wash. — The Pacific Lutheran University men's track & field squad won four events on Sunday, including two by
Grady Lemma to seize the team title at the Puget Sound Invitational.

"It was a good weekend overall for the team. The last few weeks have been about focus and intentionality with how we train and compete and the coaches have been seeing that which is good," said Head Coach
Trey Henderson.Â

"We have people getting healthy at the right time and people continuing to get better. With conference around the corner, I think we're trending in the right direction and I'm excited to see what the team can do over the next two weeks!"

Lemma cruised to victories in both his events, seizing the top spot in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.37 seconds before taking first in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.23. PLU's sprint crew collaborated to net the Lutes' third win on the oval with
Steele Swinton,
Kellen Meade,
Aiden Yost, and
Lebron Smith clocking a time of 43.29 in the 4x100-meter relay.

Meade also logged a pair of third place finishes in the 100-meter dash (11.22) and 200-meter dash (22.63) while Swinton was fifth in the same two events with efforts of 11.27 and 22.80, respectively.

Kai Sorensen nearly broke the four-minute barrier in the metric mile, finishing the 1,500-meters second overall in a personal best 4:00.78 while
Stefans Lusis was fourth in 4:10.88.

Seth Kramer headlined the Lutes' efforts in the field, winning the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 10 ¼ inches with
Connor Meade fifth overall (20' 5 ¾").Â

In the throws,
George Sonko was runner-up in the discus throw (143' 11") and fourth in the shot put (44' 10 ¾").
Micah Ragaza-Bourassa was second during Saturday's hammer throw competition after uncorking a throw of 158' 3" while
Griffin Montana was third in the shot put (45' 0 ¼") and Wangyu Yeeming was fourth in the discus (122' 9").Â

Blake Leahy sprung over 13' 6 ¼" to log a second place finish in the pole vault while
Bridger Hanis cleared 5' 11 ¼" in the high jump to also net a second place showing.
Nathan Atkinson was third in the high jump (5' 9 ¼") while
Cooper Claxton placed fifth in the triple jump (39' 3").Â
The Lutes racked up 152 points at the meet, enjoying a 9.5-point gap on runner-up and host University of Puegt Sound.Â

Sunday's meet was PLU's final competition in Washington as the squad will trek to Oregon for the rest of the meets leading up to the NCAA Championships. The Lutes are back in action on Saturday at the Lewis & Clark Invitational in Portland.Â
