WALLA WALLA, Wash. — All four scoring Lutes finished inside the top 25, powering the Pacific Lutheran University men's golf team to a fifth place finish on Monday at the Northwest Conference Spring Classic held at Wine Valley Golf Club. 

The Lutes place fifth overall with a two-round tally of 590. PLU shot a 294 on Sunday before registering a 296 on Monday afternoon, finishing two strokes ahead of crosstown rival University of Puget Sound. 
 
Willamette University secured the tournament title by one stroke, shooting a 578 (279-299). George Fox University (293-286) and Whitman College (287-292) tied for second place, both shooting a 579.

Soren Bostrom led the Lutes in Walla Walla, placing 13th overall after carding a two-round tally of 146. Bostrom shot a 70 on Sunday before following up with a 76 during Monday's final round. 
 
Koen Solis was one stroke back in 16th with a 147. Solis shot a 75 on Sunday before shaving off three strokes on Monday with a 72.
 
Marcus Otto was 22nd with a 148 while Tanner Frinell was a stroke back in 24th with a 149. Otto shot a 74 both rounds while Frinell opening the tournament with a 75 and shot a 74 in round two.

Geo Pirrie rounded out the Lute golfers, logging a 39th place finish with a 156 (77-79). 
 
The NWC Spring Classic is one of three major tournaments used to determine the final conference standings. PLU finished fourth at the NWC Fall Classic. The remaining tournament— the NWC Championships— is set for April 20-21 in McMinnville, Oregon.
 
The Lutes are back in action on Saturday at the SPSCC Invitational at Tumwater Valley Golf Course.
