Soren Bostrom and
Koen Solis provided a one-two punch for the Pacific Lutheran University men's golf squad on Tuesday, securing the top two spots on the leaderboard and helping the Lutes to a runner-up team finish as hosts of the PLU Invitational at The Home Course.
Bostrom shot a one over 73 during Monday's opening round and was on fire on Tuesday, uncorking a tournament best round of 66 to secure medalist honors with a five-under two round score of 139. Bostrom's Tuesday round included an eagle on hole five, his second eagle of the tournament.Â
Solis was equally as impressive over the two days, finishing one shot back in second with a four-under 140. Solis was the Lutes' leader on Monday with a 71 before shooting a 69 during Tuesday's final round.
Tanner Frinell was the third Lute inside the top 10, tying for sixth with a 144. Frinell shot a 73 on Monday before shaving off two strokes during round two, carding a 71.Â
"I'm just super proud of the way our men played today obviously you know Soren with the 66 is an off the charge personal best. Best score of his life in a tournament and that's kind of stuff that we need," said Head Coach Al Patterson.
Â
"Koen played solid both days. Again 69 today, three under par and he had it really going yesterday. But two days in a row he played really solid and made a lot of birdies.
Â
Tanner was solid. Both days went over yesterday and one under today even for the tournament. He's our team captain along with Koen, and they performed like it so I'm really proud."

Grant Raubenolt was 18th to lead the PLU B team, carding a 148 (76-72) while
Marcus Otto was one stroke back in 22nd with a 149 (73-76).
Tyler Maag was 36th with a two-round tally of 153 (75-78) while
Luke Butler placed 46th with a 156 (77-79).
"Grant played well both days and he finished fourth on our roster for our team so he'll be our number four man going down to our next tournament down at Pacific.
Marcus Otto will be our fifth so we're going down there with five strong players."
The Lutes finished two strokes shy of the team crown, shooting a two-over 578 for the event. PLU opened the tournament with a 294 before shooting a red hot four-under 284 on Tuesday, finishing ahead of four other Northwest Conference schools. NWC rival and 25th-ranked Willamette University snagged the team title with a 576, shooting a 292 on Monday and a 284 on Tuesday. PLU's B Team was ninth overall, carding a 610 (308-302) placing ahead of all four of the B squads from around the NWC.Â
