SPOKANE, Wash. — Emma Gassman won the 200-yard butterfly while
Harper Canessa provided runner-up finishes in two events on Friday night as the Pacific Lutheran University women's swimming team suffered its first blemish of the Northwest Conference dual meet slate, stumbling 151-49 to host Whitworth University.
"While the scoreline will say otherwise, the Lutes showed more than their swims against the Pirates," said Head Coach
Andrew Lum.
"They showed up for each other, and did such an excellent job of helping to 'fill-in the gaps' whenever it was needed. The support battle was strong, and we're very proud of how they persevered against a very difficult opponent in Whitworth. The team is showing a great level of engagement and intent with each other, and that's going to carry us very far against Whitman and at the NWC Championships in February."
