SEATTLE, WASH.— The Pacific Lutheran University track and field team traveled up to the University of Washington capturing several personal records in multiple events on Friday.
Lutes brought a smaller group of 13 up to Seattle to compete against a vast group of competition comprised mostly of Division 1 programs. PLU was one of two Division III programs in attendance.
"Today was a really good day for us," Head Coach
Trey Henderson mentioned. "We had a smaller group competing, but had multiple PR's which was great to see. Our sprinters all had a strong day and so did our jumps group."
Tyger Willingham and
Seth Kramer had strong showings in the 60m dash finishing with times a 7.18s (PR) and 7.44s respectively.
Bridger Hanis continued the momentum in the high jump finishing with a leap of 5 feet and 11 inches and a quarter.
Hunter Kleindl posted a dominant performance finishing tied for third with a height of 14 feet and 9 inches.
Soukhanya Waters led all Lute sprinters in the 60m dash finishing with a time of 8.04 a new PR. Three other PRs in the 60m dash from
Kiana Gutierrez (8.28s),
D'Yhana Clemons (8.31s), and
Kira Marshall (8.33s). Kiana Neir displayed a strong performance with a new PR in the pole vault finishing 5th with final height of 11 feet and 5 inches and three quarters.
"It's nice to see where some of our athletes are at this early point in the season and so far it's been strong," Henderson noted. "The team is working hard in training and we are seeing that show up. Excited for our next indoor opportunity and continuing to build as we head towards outdoor season."
Pacific Lutheran University will be back in action on February 13th as they travel to Spokane for the Whitworth Invitational.
