Results

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Pacific Lutheran University men's track & field squad won four events on Saturday, competing at Seattle Pacific University's Doris Heritage Track Festival.

Darius Chaffin won the javelin throw for the second consecutive meet, uncorking a toss of 185 feet, two inches to win the event, enjoying a nearly seven foot advantage on the rest of the field. His mark currently ranks as the 10th best in Division III this spring.

Corey Solomon prevailed in the pole vault, clearing 14' 7 1/2" to win the event.

Hezekiah Goodwin was an event winner for the second straight week, securing the title in the 1,500-meters after crossing the finish in four minutes, 4.26 seconds. Logan Werner was hot on Goodwin's heals, placing runner-up in 4:05.89. Fellow distance runner Ryan Stracke was second in the 5,000-meters, looping the track in 14:51.93.

Aiden Yost, Keola Sanchez, Alec Serrao, and Kellen Meade won the 4x100-meter relay, sprinting to the win in 43.69. Sanchez was two-hundredths of a second away from winning the 100-meter dash, finishing as the top D3 competitor in a time of 11.14.

Masum Real was runner-up in the shot put with a toss of 44' 5 1/2" with Tayon taking third with a heave of 43' 10 3/4". Larson Fairbairn was the third Lute inside the top five, placing fifth with a mark of 41' 7 3/4".

Fairbairn was third in the hammer throw (146' 4") with Tayon fifth overall with a toss of 130' 4". in the high jump, Nathan Atkinson placed fifth overall.

"We had a great meet from start to finish," said Head Coach Adam Frye.

"Corey started the day with a W in the vault and Darius ended it with a big PR in the javelin with the whole team watching. It was really exciting to see how he is developing in that event. It was fun to win the first two events on the track with the 4x1 taking its second win and Heze and Logan going 1-2 in the 1,500-meters."

The Lutes compete as a split squad next weekend, with part of the team competing at the Westmont Classic in Santa Barbara, California while the rest remains closer to home, competing at the Peyton-Shotwell Invitational at the University of Puget Sound.
