Masum Real and
Larson Fairbairn powered the Lutes' effort at the PLU Invitational over the weekend.

"It was a great weekend of competition for both Masum and Larson," said PLU throwing coach
Trey Henderson. "We are coming off a long spring break trip and to turn around and have a top performance in the hammer for Larson with Masum capping it off with a huge PR in the discus, which he has been building towards all season is impressive."
Real earned the victory in the discus (157') and was runner-up in the shot put (45' 9"), while Fairbairn was second in the hammer throw (147' 8") and third in the discus (142' 5").
The Lute 4x100-meter relay team of
Aiden Yost,
Jai Alapai,
Alec Serrao and
Kellen Meade cruised to a runner-up finish after recording a 43.74. Meade placed third in the 100 dash (11.08), while
Darius Chaffin captured the bronze in the 110 hurdles (16.50). Chaffin also finished fourth in the javelin with a toss of 159' 10".
Sam Zielke and
Jonah Maier placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Zielke clocked a 10:02.98, while Maier crossed the finish line in 10:14.99. In the 5,000,
Ryan Stracke took the bronze (15:30.62) with
Owen Ladinig finishing in fourth (15:31.21).
The Lutes will be back in action for the NWC Combined Events Championships on Monday and Tuesday with the entire squad getting in some final reps before the NWC Championships at the Lewis & Clark Invitational.
