TACOMA, Wash.--- The Pacific Lutheran University Men's track and field team finished competing at the PLU Invitational on Saturday morning at the PLU Track, as the throwing events concluded the meet amongst off-and-on weather bursts throughout the day.

In the men's shot put, dual-sport athlete Montana Griffin narrowly earned third-place as his best throw of 13.17-meters edged out a Puget Sound thrower by 0.03-meters. Montana finished only behind a pair from Western Washington University. Fellow Lutes
George Sonko and
Micah Ragaza-Bourassa also competed in the shot put, taking fifth and eighth. Ragaza-Bourassa led the Lutes in the hammer throw (competed on Friday), taking fifth in the event with a best of 49.33-meters.

Senior
Darius Chaffin earned third-place in the javelin, eclipsing the 50-meter mark on his final throw of the day, with a 50.55-meter heave. He finished behind a pair of unattached athletes, one of which a former Lute in
Carson Olmstead.

Sonko later closed out the meet with the discus throw, taking sixth for the Lutes, with a toss of 40.88-meters on his first attempt of the day.

The Lutes head south next weekend in search of the sunshine, as they will compete in the Westmont Classic in Santa Barbara, California.
