SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Eva Wirth won a pair of events while
Kyleigh Archer won another, headlining a strong effort from the Pacific Lutheran University women's track & field squad on Saturday at the Westmont Classic.

"We had a lot of good performances today. It was a good meet and being able to run against some new competition is always a positive," said Head Coach
Trey Henderson.

"The team continues to get better each meet. There were strong performances in each event group which is great to see, We're building a good foundation and need to continue that as we work towards the conference meet."
Wirth won the hammer throw after uncorking a season-best toss of 150 feet, seven inches, a toss almost five feet further than the senior's previous best this spring. Teammate Alessandra Valmonte was runner-up with a personal best heave of 149' 6" while
Samayia White claimed fourth overall (137' 0"). Wirth also claimed a win in the discus throw, securing the top spot with a mark of 118' 4".Â

PLU secured the top two spots in the triple jump. Archer won the event with a personal best leap of 37' 0 ½" while
Madison Downey was runner-up with a season-best effort of 35' 10 ¾". Archer's winning effort is the sixth best jump in school history.Â

Abi Caprye was runner-up in the high jump, clearing and outdoor season best 5' 1" while
Katy Cook was third in the javelin with a throw of 117' 9"

In the shot put,
Tajanai Huff was fourth overall (35' 10") while White was fifth in the same event with a mark of 34' 8 ½".Â

On the track,
Addisen Hering was runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.22 seconds before placing third overall with a personal best time of 1:10.28 in the 400-meter hurdles. Teammate
Lilly Achterling was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 16.87.

Annika Deazley was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 13:13.08,Â

PLU's 4x100-meter relay finished third overall in 51.11 with the Lutes' 4x400-meter squad closing the meet with a fourth place showing in 4:25.27.Â

The Lutes racked up 124 points at the eight team meet to secure third place and enjoy a 53-point gap on California Lutheran University. Northwest Conference nemesis George Fox University won the meet with 278.5 points with host Westmont College was runner-up with a team tally of 171.5.Â

Pacific Lutheran is back in action on Saturday, making the short trip across town to compete at the University of Puget Sound's Peyton Shotwell Invitational.Â
