SALEM, Ore.- The Pacific Lutheran University women's swimming team won all 11 events on Friday, opening up the Northwest Conference dual meet season with a 159-42 thrashing of host Willamette University.
"The team had a great first dual," said Head Coach
Matt Sellman. "We swam well in many events but definitely showed some rust in the 200 strokes and in handling the rigors of a full order of events. We had some impressive swims, especially from our newcomers. We look forward to preparing for L&C and finishing a great first weekend."

Whitney Mundle,
Bailey Hamilton, and
Victoria Nguyenle set the tone by winning the 400-yard medley relay in four minutes, 12.79 seconds, owning an eight-second gap on the PLU B team and a nearly 12-second edge on the Bearcats' top relay squad.
Allie Burke claimed the 1,00-yard freestyle in 11:35.43 with
Mary Campbell securing second billing in 12:05.21.
It was a one-two-three sweep for the Lutes in the 200-yard freestyle with
Claire Cranch touching the wall first in 2:05.09.
Jenna Muller was second in 2:06.61 with
Tess Ritcey third (2:11.12).
Lauren Kearney took the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.02 with
Sidney Chan-Orcutt (26.35) and
Bridget Duven (27.63) the next two competitors to touch the wall.
Hamilton and Mundle went 1-2 in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking times of 2:21.11 and 2:23.71, respectively, while Cranch won the 200-yard butterfly by a whopping 22-seconds, touching the wall in 2:15.48.
Nguyenle won the 100-yard freestyle in 56.97 with Kearney (57.58) and Ritcey (1:00.12) the next two finishers while Kishaba took the 200-yard backstroke in 2:12.02.
Muller (5:36.42),
Alex Shannon (5:41.70), and
Tori Oshiro (5:59.90) ensured a top three sweep in the 500-yard freestyle before Nguyenle won her third event of the night, taking the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:30.50 with
Makenzie Chan-Orcutt (2:38.58) and
Reina Kim (2:38.69) taking second and third, respectively.
The Lutes capped off the meet with a dominating win in the 400-yard freestyle relay with
Sidney Chan-Orcutt, Mundle, Hamilton, and Kearney finishing in 3:54.05.
"We had a great team atmosphere today and I'm happy to see the Lutes starting off the season so strong," said
Victoria Nguyenle. "I felt good in the water and overall I'm pretty happy with all of my races. I'm excited to head over to Lewis & Clark tomorrow and swim the shorter races!"
The Lutes are back in the water tomorrow afternoon, facing Lewis & Clark College at 1p.m. in Portland.
