BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Senior sprinter
Bailey Forsyth became the fastest woman in Pacific Lutheran University history on Saturday as she won the 100-meter dash in 12.01, snapping a 22-year old record at the Western Washington University Team Invitational. As a team, the Lutes won five events.
Forsyth had one of the best sprinting afternoons in Lute history. She broke the tape in the 100-meter dash in 12.01, which breaks the school record of 12.06 held by Christine Axley. Axley's time of 12.06 has stood since 1999. Forsyth's time is also good for second in the entire country, trailing only Favor Ezewuzie's mark of 11.75 from Wheaton College.
Forsyth continued her effort later in the day, running a 24.80 in the 200-meter dash, a time that is good for tops in all of NCAA Division III and ranks fourth in Lute history.
Sophomore
Sulin Degollado claimed the 1,500-meter title in 4:59.71 and finished second in the 800-meters (2:22.02). Senior
Adrienne Gulley added a runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.10). Classmate
Lauren Wilson also finished second in the high jump after clearing 5' 3 ¼".
Maria Flynn added to the Lute haul in the jumping events, taking fourth in the triple with a leap of 30' 5".
Katelyn Harris topped the podium in the hammer throw with a career-best heave of 157' 5" and
Peyton Santos was also victorious in the discus with a toss of 130' 4". In the javelin,
